The Bothnia Railway Museum is one of the largest railway museums in Sweden. It recreates historic railway environments on the very place where once iron ore was smelted in Luleå Järnverk, surrounded by the village of Karlsvik. Ore and other goods were transported on the privately-owned Gammelstad - Karlsvikshyttans Järnväg (GKJ), now with historic trains, from the main line Malmbanan, a remarkable railway in many aspects.

This web site is under heavy reconstruction. Watch out for addition of new pages in the near future!

Upp med hakan! Ma 779 måste höja plogen för att komma in i utställningshallen.

Malmbanans Vänner (literally "friends of the ore line") is a non-profit association founded in 1982 dedicated to preserving vehicles and other historic items associated with Malmbanan. The association runs The Bothnia Railway Museum in Karlsvik just outside Luleå as well as veteran trains on the old railway Gammelstad - Karlsvikshyttans Järnväg (GKJ) in the summer season. On special occasions also longer excursions.
