The Bothnia Railway Museum is one of the largest railway museums in
Sweden. It recreates historic railway environments on the very place where once iron ore
was smelted in Luleå Järnverk, surrounded by the village of Karlsvik. Ore and other
goods were transported on the privately-owned Gammelstad - Karlsvikshyttans Järnväg
(GKJ), now with historic trains, from the main line Malmbanan, a remarkable railway in
many aspects.
